harry styles and chill

Ever since I made Harry Styles, I've become a big Harry Styles fan. He put out an album earlier this year, and I was SO excited for it. Like I was counting down the days to its release. I hadn't done anything like that since high school. I have thoroughly enjoyed Kiss All The Time, Disco Occasionally, but my favorite is still Harry's House. It's just such a chill vibe. And after listening to a bunch of Harry Styles music, I was inspired to make a playlist: harry styles and chill.

It started with just a few chill Harry Styles songs with pretty harmonies, little to no percussion, and a touch of sadness. Then I expanded it to include some songs from other artists. And maybe I'll still add more to this in the future, if I hear a song with the right vibe.

1. beabadoobee - Coffee

I was sitting in a coffee shop a couple of weeks ago when I heard the perfect pair. beabadoobee is very fitting coffee shop music. Being in the coffee shop, I remembered her most famous song Coffee (Well, deathbed, which samples it, is her most famous. But I wanted the original), and I thought it would be the perfect opener to this playlist.

2. Harry Styles - Matilda

When I was crocheting Harry Styles, Matilda was the one song that made me stop what I was doing and listen. It's funny, Harry's songs tend to have lyrics that are so vague and abstract and make absolutely no sense. But Matilda is the complete opposite. It is so straightforward, and it tells a story, and it quickly became my favorite song on the album.

3. Billie Eilish - ocean eyes

After I put together a few Harry Styles songs on this playlist and I decided it could use some non-Harry Styles, ocean eyes was the first song that came to mind. It's my favorite Billie Eilish song.

4. Harry Styles - ... Little Freak

I added this song to the playlist because Dan likes it, and because it fits well with the vibe.

5. Kris Allen - Swingin' on a Swing

As I listen to this right now, I'm singing along:

Sittin' on a couch
I am siiiittin' on a cou-ou-ouch
I am siiiiiiittin' on a cou-ou-ouch
Oh-oh ye-e-ah, aa-ah aa-ah
I am
Sittin' on a couch!

6. One Direction - I Want to Write You a Song

I didn't think that a mostly-Harry Styles playlist was complete without a One Direction song. I've honestly never liked One Direction, but I went and listened to every single song of theirs just to see if there was something good for this playlist. And I confirmed what I already suspected, that I am just not into their style of music (but I do think that every single one of the members is quite a good singer and artist on their own).

There were actually a few songs I enjoyed, and one of them was I Want to Write You a Song. I like the simple lyrics and the raspiness in Louis' voice during the chorus.

7. Ariana Grande - i wish i hated you

I was at my friend's house listening to a bunch of music. I noticed that she had favorited a lot of songs from Ariana Grande's Eternal Sunshine so we listened to the whole album, and this song stood out to me and even resonated with me a little.

8. Harry Styles - Boyfriends

I was sitting in my car, and I guess I had been listening to Harry's House earlier that day, because as I turned the car on, this song started playing. I heard the word "boyfriends" and I immediately was taken by how pretty it sounded. The whole song is sung with other harmonizing vocals, except for a single line "why you don't know". Maybe this one is actually my favorite on the album.

9. Justin Bieber, Tori Kelly - Name

I hadn't been a Justin Bieber fan at all growing up, but I absolutely loved the album Justice. Then I noticed he had a deluxe version of this album, and the last song features Tori Kelly, one of my favorite artists. After hearing it I loved the album even more.

10. Harry Styles - From the Dining Table

From the Dining Table is from Harry's first album, which is probably his loudest, most vocal showcasing album, and I think a lot of fans love it for that reason. But my favorite song is the last one, the most quiet one. I love when he repeats "Maybe one day you'll call me and tell me that you're sorry too" three times, and then says "But you, you never do". This song is the reason I made this playlist.
